Step inside our entirely Ketra-lit headquarters, featured in Interior Design, by clicking through the photos below.
Located in the vibrant Riverside neighborhood, Ketra HQ is a stone's throw from both downtown Austin and miles of hike-and-bike trails. From the outside, it's clear that something illuminating is happening in this Michael Hsu-designed building.
Step inside and you immediately enter the Ketra Collaboration Studio. This multi-use space serves as a gathering place for the local design community and has a secret superpower: It does a stunning 180 from day to night. Here, the space is bathed in Ketra's Natural Light to support a productive work session.
With the touch of a button, the lighting shifts the vibe from a natural light-filled work area to a show-stopping event space for an after-hours cocktail party. A gradient of colors washes the ceiling, and each Isamu Noguchi pendant turns a different saturated hue to add drama.
The light in each space and zone can be completely personalized. The entrance lobby on the left blends seamlessly with the natural light from outside. The booth area is tuned to a warm, cozy glow that suits this team member's task and mood. The meeting room next door is illuminated with crisp, bright light to energize a collaborative work session.
The main lobby welcomes visitors with a colorful, playful mural by local artist Aaron Darling. Look closely and you'll spot skylines and famous landmarks representing Lutron's global presence.
The mural's vibrant colors transform under a range of custom lighting scenes. Here, the saturated purple light creates a near-blacklight experience, causing different paint colors to fluoresce and glow. Experience how light transforms other artwork and spaces by browsing the Lighting Scene Selector.
Step through the mural's hidden door, and you'll be welcomed into our bright and airy downstairs workspace. Soft seating placed near large windows creates the ideal collaboration environment with a view. Ketra light extends the feel of sunlight throughout the entire space, so everyone enjoys a workspace that is awash with natural light.
A show stopping light sculpture comprised of over 400 Ketra A20 lamps hangs above the stairwell, designed to evoke Austin's rolling hills. Depending on the day, these can be a bright magenta as seen here, a wash of rainbow, or a gradient of white light. No matter its color, the sculpture sets the tone for a dynamic workday for employees.
Workspaces upstairs are lined with white board walls to spark creativity and lots of windows to let in the all-important sunlight. Lutron shades automatically adjust as the day progresses and the sun's position changes, maximizing natural light while minimizing screen glare.
A fixed 3,000K color temperature has become the norm for office lighting, but there's a wider range of white light available. Individualized control of each meeting room lets occupants choose exactly the right color temperature needed for the task at hand.
The employee kitchen boasts ample seating, from the long banquet-style table to the cozier two-person pods. State of the art Miele appliances and espresso machines keep everyone well-fed and caffeinated.
