2019 Kips Bay Decorator Show House: Ketra Illuminates a Stunning Transformation

The breathtaking 22-room, 12,000-square foot townhouse located at 36-38 East 74th Street in New York City was once a private residence for the city’s most elite members of high society.

But this month—from May 2nd to May 30th—it’s a public canvas for 23 of the world’s most elite designers, architects, and interior decorators to share their latest creative visions. The property was selected as the location of the 47th annual Kips Bay Decorators Show House—and Ketra helped bring it to life.

Beginning in 1973, the yearly event unites the top design talent from around the world to transform a selected property into an exhibition of elegance—blending fine furnishings, art, and technology to raise money for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The event attracts 15,000 visitors each year and funds after-school and enrichment programs for New York City children.

Among the design community, the Show House signals the kickoff of the Spring season—and offers a much-anticipated glimpse into the trends ahead. Four of this year’s designers chose Ketra to illuminate their showcase rooms. Let’s take a look at each of their stunning creations:

Classical textures, antique furnishings, and beautiful greenery come together in Vicente Wolf’s “Dreaming Room.” Not constrained by the normal flow of a home, the room is centered around a soaking tub and surrounded by striking eggplant purple walls.
