A trigger is an event that causes a change in the state of your lighting. Generally, a trigger causes a scene or show to play. There are several kinds of triggers:
Keypad Button Press
When a user presses a keypad button, the keypad broadcasts a corresponding command to the Ketra devices it controls. Button presses can trigger scenes or shows to play.
For example, pressing the “Natural” button on a Ketra keypad causes the Natural show to play on whatever devices the keypad controls.
Note: Whenever a show is triggered from a keypad, it comes on at the correct setting for the current time.
Timeclock Event in a Show
A show is a series of time triggers, or events linked to times of day. For example, a time trigger might be set to take place at 4 PM, or at 2 hours before sunset, or every fourth minute in a loop. Each time trigger in a show causes a scene to play.
For example, a natural show may include triggers every 5 minutes, each shifting lights’ color temperature and intensity to mimic shifts in sunlight over the course of the day.
Input Signal from a Sensor or Third-Party Device
Sustained contact-closure inputs and some 0-10V inputs can be thought of as causing trigger events, since they relay only one of two states.
For example, an occupancy sensor may trigger a scene when it detects occupancy, then trigger an off state when it detects vacancy.
